Vulnerability to hurt, disappointment, sadness and grief are a normal part of the human experience. In order to make sense of this struggle, we often turn it inward, leaving us with even more painful beliefs about ourselves and the world.
I believe that a genuine, authentic therapist- client relationship has the power to heal. As fellow travelers on your path to personal growth and healing, we will collaborate to remove conscious and unconscious barriers to move you toward a life that is meaningful, authentic and purposeful. Sometimes I will offer curiosity, new ideas and techniques. Other times, we will use our dynamic to identify and shift patterns that do not serve you, often by transforming survival skills learned in our early years into more adaptive and functional behaviors. In this safe, judgement-free space, we will reconnect you to who you were before the world told you how to be.
I work from an attachment theory perspective, on the basis that we thrive emotionally and physically when engaged in healthy, connected and secure relationships, the first being the relationship with oneself.
I hold a Masters degree in Social work from New York University. In my work with individuals facing a wide range of struggles, I use a trauma informed lens to draw upon a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. In my work with couples, I use Emotion Focused Therapy that aims clients to become aware of and experience, accept, express, utilize, regulate and transform emotion. Besides my work in fostering secure attachment, I have developed a special interest in depression, anxiety, family of origin issues, relational trauma, the intergenerational nature of trauma and it’s effect on parenting and relationships, including but not limited to narcissistic abuse.
